My Six-String

My Six String
My Six String

Everyone/thing deserves to go out with a bang. One last amazing performance before they retire. I just ordered a ton of new art materials like new brushes and watercolors and wanted to make one last painting with the old ones. This is the one. Nothing to scale, just freehand. I love the texture of the guitar body since its so close to the real thing but I seriously screwed up with the background. A bit too much.

The Message

The Message (Pencil Sketch)

“And in the end, we were all just humans… Drunk on the idea that love, only love, could heal our brokenness.”F. Scott Fitzgerald

All the things he wanted to say but couldn’t. All the things he should have said but can’t anymore. Times change. People move on. And he is left wondering what to do with the things that will always remain in his head. So he wrote it all on a long piece of parchment and threw it as far as he could out in the ocean. Wishing… Hoping… that this physical act will have some positive impact on his state of mind, as he read it would. The one thing he vowed to himself that day – Never wait for the right time. There is never a right time to say something when it comes to matters of the heart.

A not so quick pencil sketch. The texture of the ultra cheap copier paper and the dark pencil meant, had to rely on the eraser a bit too much. However, I have to admit, I like the texture. Used a tissue paper for blending the shading. The message (the paper inside the bottle) was actually an afterthought.

And just for the record – The top para is fictional but based on the experiences of the people I have had the pleasure of knowing. Just something to go along with the sketch.

Old Soldering Iron

Old Soldering Iron (Pencil Sketch: 30mins)
This big ass soldering iron, with a now-uselessly-big tip, is more than two decades old. It was my father’s friend’s dad’s  which he ‘borrowed’ and it fell to me after that. I have been using this since I was ~11 or so #geek. Doesn’t work anymore but lots of memories attached, including but not limited to getting my fingers toasted and getting electrocuted.

I finally got off my lazy ass and bought some thin brushes (Well, my kid remembered and got a few for forgetful me while she was on her way but thats just fine print.) Anyway, started to “sketch” the photo that was open on my PC and before I knew it… Voila! Kinda got carried away. I like this one even though I got sloppy in the end with the lighter feather strokes near the bottom.

Farewell

Farewell (Digital Painting)

You meet so many people in your life and some of them quickly become an indispensable and meaningful part of you. But there are times when you have to part ways… you have to bid farewell for reasons that seem so right at the time. The important thing is… I will never forget… Will always carry these memories with me. My gift as well as my curse.

Took me about an hour. This one cannot be classified as anything but a doodle and yet, I like this one a lot.
